This scene, from the viewpoint of a passenger in a water taxi, shows ferries and a gondola on the Grand Canal — the main thoroughfare of Venice. It’s a delightful November afternoon and, despite being late in the year, it’s warm and 20 degrees Celsius. My wife and I are being transported to Saint Marks Square from the bus terminal. Our luggage has gone on ahead to our hotel in another boat. Life is good.
