The Catholic Parish Church of The Sacred Heart (Katholische Pfarrkirche Herz Jesu) above Flüelen. I chose this composition for the contrast of white bell tower and orange roof against the dark mountain and dense forests. This tiny village in Switzerland hosts a major railway station. Train passengers alight at the station beside a wharf at the south-eastern end of Lake Lucerne. A paddle steamer then takes them to the city of Luzern (Lucerne) near the head of the lake. On the way, it calls in at villages and lakeside hotels on either side of the lake. I have used artistic licence to omit a line of overhead wiring masts along the intercity railway.
